Montenegro relied on diplomacy to achieve strategic goals, from restoring independence to joining NATO, and now in the process of EU accession negotiations, announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Srđan Darmanović.
Darmanović, on the occasion of the upcoming New Year's holidays, organized today a traditional New Year's reception for representatives of the diplomatic corps, at which he reminded of the results achieved by Montenegro this year in terms of foreign policy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Darmanović thanked the representatives of the diplomatic corps and the countries from which they come for their support in the integration processes and expressed his readiness to improve relations in the future as well.
At the New Year reception, as the doyen of the diplomatic corps, the ambassador of Italy in Montenegro, Vincenzo del Monaco, also spoke, who said that representatives of the diplomatic corps in Montenegro are in a privileged space, where minorities, religions and languages intertwine, and where history left deep traces of exceptional civilizations.
"Montenegro is a country that shows coherence in relation to the initial strategic vision of its geopolitical position, a stable and open country, a model of peaceful coexistence and tolerance, a reference point at the regional level, and not only in terms of the policy of good neighborly relations," Del Monaco said.
The New Year's reception, which was held in Villa Gorica, was attended by more than 50 representatives of the diplomatic corps.
