The country of Montenegro is finally becoming the biggest enemy of organized crime, said Dritan Abazović, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro.
"I welcome the action of the Police Administration of Montenegro and the Department for Combating Drug Smuggling - SBPOK, in which several people were arrested this morning for drug smuggling. This is just the beginning! Full support for such activities!", wrote Abazović on Twitter.
Today, the police arrested 24 people who are accused of being the organizers and members of a criminal organization that smuggled large quantities of marijuana from the direction of Albania, through the territory of Montenegro, to the countries of the region and further to the countries of the European Union.
"In the investigation so far, by cutting the smuggling routes used by members of this criminal group, half a ton of marijuana was found and seized in 11 individual seizures. The same group is charged with smuggling two and a half tons of marijuana," the Police Directorate announced earlier today.
