The upcoming local elections in Nikšić will be one of the topics of today's session of the Main Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), which should also elect a new Presidency after the recent extraordinary party congress.
Elections in Nikšić are scheduled for March 14, and electoral lists will be submitted by February 16.
The municipal board of DPS in Nikšić has not yet been scheduled, nor has the election list been determined.
According to unofficial information, the DPS plans to go to the elections in a coalition with the Social Democrats, the Liberal Party and the Patriot-Comity Alliance, and the coalition should be led by Dr. Sanja Damjanović, former Minister of Science.

In the Statute of the DPS it is written that the GO "decides on the method of election and the number of members of the Party Presidency" and "elects the members of the Party Presidency on the proposal of the President".
By function, the members of the Presidency are the president and vice-presidents of the party (Sanja Damjanović, Jevto Eraković, Ivan Vuković and Abaz Dizdarević), then the general secretary of the party and the president of the parliamentary club (Danijel Živković), but also the president of Montenegro, the president of the Parliament of Montenegro, the president of the Government of Montenegro Worse if they are party members - which in this case is only Đukanović.
The General Secretary, on the proposal of the President, as written in the Statute, is appointed by the Party Presidency.

The great changes that took place in the composition of the GO should continue, as the interlocutor states, in the Presidency of the DPS. It is expected that Nikola Rakočević (who was previously a member as head of the party club in the Assembly), as well as MP Aleksandra Vuković, will remain in it.
The political council is reserved for DPS veterans, and the head of this party body should, as previously announced, be occupied by former prime minister Duško Marković.
Milan Roćen and Svetozar Marović were previously in those positions.
The DPS Statute states that the party has a Political Council as an advisory body: "The President of the Political Council is elected by the Main Committee and he is responsible for his work to the Presidency and the General Assembly.
The composition and jurisdiction of the Political Council are determined by an act adopted by the Main Board. The President of the Political Council manages the work of the Political Foundation of the Democratic Party of Socialists".
