The government that has not succeeded in dismantling the power of Milo Đukanović must be strengthened as soon as possible, the Presidency of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) said, saying that the victory of the coalition around that party in the Nikšić elections is a confirmation of the strength of their policy.
The NSD said that the session of the Presidency concluded that the two basic goals set in the Nikšić elections were fully achieved.
"The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) lost power in that city and the coalition "For the future of Nikšić" led by Marko Kovačević, despite the fact that everyone was against it, achieved the best result on the winning side," the announcement says.
In the NSD, they believe that the conditions have been met for Kovačević to be elected as the president of the municipality of Nikšić, according to the principle of the formation of authorities in other municipalities.
It is said that it was established that the DPS managed to keep most of the strength it had in August.
"First of all, due to the slow and inefficient implementation of reforms by the Government of Montenegro, so that the levers of power, on the basis of which the party of Milo Đukanović achieved results in all the past years, were in their hands in these elections as well", assessed the NSD Presidency.
According to them, the citizens of Nikšić, however, gave their answer and confirmed their decision from August last year.
The presidency concluded that the elections in Nikšić obligate the necessary reforms to be carried out faster and more effectively.
It was assessed that the Government, which has so far failed to dismantle the power of Đukanović, needs to strengthen its personnel as soon as possible in order to start working effectively and courageously to fulfill the promises we made to the citizens.
"Urgent removal of pests from the DPS from decision-making places in the state administration and from public companies is a necessary precondition for the recovery of Montenegro," the announcement concludes.
