We will never forget that March 24, 1999, with the hope that it will never happen again to anyone, according to the announcement of the Socialist People's Party of Montenegro (SNP).
"On this day, 22 years ago, the planes of the NATO pact bombed a sovereign country in the heart of Europe, our homeland SR Yugoslavia," the SNP statement reads.
As they announced, there are historical events that remain deeply etched in the memory of a nation, and this one, they state, from 22 years ago, "we will remember badly".
"It was 78 days of bombing, with the great suffering of the people, the demolition of roads, bridges, hospitals, airports, TV centers and relays. It was a time of numerous sufferings of civilians and members of the Yugoslav Army. The small Montenegrin town of Murino was also targeted, where innocents were killed children", it was announced from the SNP.
They added that, as they say, this was one of the darkest stains on the face of the NATO alliance.
"World powers, without the decision of the United Nations, decided to start the process of bombing a sovereign country," the announcement states.
As they stated, the Socialist People's Party of Montenegro has a moral obligation to remember with deep reverence the victims of the bombing, heroes, fallen soldiers and innocent civilians, among whom there were children.
"Let it never be forgotten," the SNP concluded.
