The leaders of the majority reached an agreement: with the "Dritan law" they are breaking the monopoly in the prosecutor's office

The Democratic Front (DF) has accepted the proposal of the European Commission (EC) and the Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, which corresponds to the recommendations that would clearly regulate the competences of the Special and Supreme State Prosecutor's Office and prosecution organizations, Milan Knežević, president of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), told reporters ) and one of the DF leaders after the meeting in the Assembly.

The leaders called the Bill "Dritan's Law", and, as Knežević said, it was accepted in order to break the monopoly that was based on nepotism, the obvious criminality and corruption of a number of prosecutors.

Knežević believes that with some minor corrections and legal definitions, they will be able to submit the Proposal to the Assembly by the end of today's working day and adopt it by the end of April and the beginning of May.

When asked if this means that the DF will now also vote for other bills in the Assembly, primarily for the budget, he replied that the DF announced that if the law on the prosecution is adopted, the normal parliamentary debate will begin.

Abazović said that they remain maximally open to all criticism, suggestions and comments from the NGO sector, international organizations that deal with the issue, or the domestic professional public, which could affect the quality of the text.

"We will not skip a single step regarding what should be an open process, because initially it is important that the parliamentary majority has a solution that is agreed upon and that they can jointly present to the public and defend in front of the public. We all agreed at the meeting that these things it should not be delayed, that perhaps more time was lost than it should have been and that this is something that is an urgent need of our society to enable prosecutorial institutions to function in a much more efficient way, better quality and more professionally than it has been so far".

Speaking about the current security situation, Abazović said that national security is not threatened and that he hopes that the session of the National Security Council will be scheduled soon.

He told President Milo Đukanović and DPS to work directly against Montenegro and its national interests.

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić said last night that he expresses his satisfaction with the fact that the parliamentary majority saw that the Government's proposal for a solution is a matter of prosecutorial laws in the best interest of Montenegro - in order to fulfill justice, while respecting European standards.
