Great Britain's ambassador to Montenegro, Karen Maddox, called for a "constructive dialogue", reminding that the parties have already shown that they are able to resolve their differences in this way.
Answering the question of "Vijesti" whether she is worried about the raised tensions in Montenegro, she said that it will always be a reason for concern:
"Of course, we are carefully following the events. We call on all parties to remain calm and engage in constructive dialogue. Parties from the entire political spectrum have already shown that they are able to resolve their differences through dialogue," Maddox said.
She emphasized that they are discussing current events with representatives of all parties.
Two days ago, both the European Commission and the US and French embassies in Podgorica appealed for the opening of political dialogue as soon as possible. The political situation has been particularly "tight" in recent days after the Government announced the adoption of changes to the decision on the criteria for citizenship in order to simplify the procedure for obtaining it.
This caused the protests of the Komi-patriotic movement, which were called for by DPS activists.
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić accused the adviser to the President of Montenegro, Veselin Veljović, of being behind the activities of that movement, which, he said, are financed by criminal money.
"Your question about the alleged criminal financing is something you should refer to the appropriate authorities," Maddox replied to the "News".
Yesterday, the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) confirmed that it had opened a case in this regard:
"..In this prosecutor's office, a case has been opened on the basis of the allegations presented, and the investigation procedure is ongoing, and it is not possible to disclose more information and data in order to protect the interests of the proceedings," said special prosecutor Sanja Jovićević.
On Monday evening, the Prime Minister and the leaders of the parliamentary majority parties discussed these topics, as well as the dismissal of the Minister of Justice due to the disputed statement about the genocide in Srebrenica, and the amendment of the prosecution laws, but the meeting was interrupted.
Officials of the Democratic Front accused Krivokapić of meeting with the president of the state and the leader of the DPS, Milo Đukanović, who is behind the attempt to overthrow the government, while he retaliated by calling them names for gaining cheap political points because it was a session of the Defense Council.
When the talks on overcoming the deadlock in the Parliament will be continued is not yet known, several sources told "Vijesta".
Director of the Civic Alliance (GA) Boris Raonić assessed that the failure of the meeting was the result of accumulated dissatisfaction, great mistrust, political inexperience of the Prime Minister and lack of communication between them.
As he said, the atmosphere from the local elections in Nikšić and the beginning of the campaign in Herceg Novi, where relations are very disturbed, was also transferred to the meeting.
"All this was to be expected, so it was necessary to go into the preparation of the meeting with much more care, and it was especially important to communicate differently to the public after the failure. In this way, all of them work directly to their own detriment", Raonic assessed.
The President of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knežević, said yesterday that the reconciliation of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice is the key to the survival of the Government.
He told the MINA agency that the crisis is obvious and that it arose in the government due to the conflict between Krivokapić and Leposavić.
The leader of the Socialist People's Party, Vladimir Joković, called on his colleagues from the ruling majority and the prime minister to refrain from harsh words: "DPS wants instability and chaos. We must not be actors in that dirty game of division".
The President of United, Goran Danilović, called on the Government and the Prime Minister to respect the parliamentary majority, and its colleagues to stop "mutual extermination".
