Montenegro's NATO membership contributed to the peace and stability of the Western Balkans and Europe as a whole, Belgian Ambassador Konrad Adam said at a meeting with Defense Minister Olivera Injac.
He, as reported by the Ministry of Defense, said that Belgium values Montenegro as a close ally in NATO and that it is ready to continue supporting Montenegro on its way to fulfilling the European integration agenda.
"Adam assessed that with its membership in NATO, Montenegro contributed to the peace and stability of the Western Balkan region and Europe as a whole," the announcement states.
Injac said that friendship and cooperation between the two countries is the basis for further strengthening and deepening of defense relations, especially taking into account common interests and alliance within NATO.
As reported, she referred to the security situation in the Western Balkans and its impact on the stability of the European continent.
As Injac emphasized, Montenegro is strongly committed to the promotion of European and Euro-Atlantic values in the region in order to strengthen regional trust and cooperation.
She stated that she was satisfied with the bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and Belgium so far, and expressed readiness for further improvement of defense cooperation.
