Today, Montenegro is significantly different from a decade ago, precisely thanks to the quality reforms that we implemented as part of the integration processes, we have progressed in many segments, said the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ivan Brajović, at the international parliamentary conference "EU and partners - Acceptance of diversity for the sake of stronger unity", in which he participates during a bilateral visit to Georgia.
"We have strengthened the capacity of our institutions and are able to implement the improved legislation that we adopted and are adopting in a faster and more efficient way. In economic terms, despite the consequences of the world economic crisis, which affected almost all European countries, in Montenegro today better than 10 years ago, when the Stabilization and Association Agreement was signed. The average salary and pension in Montenegro then were twice as low as now. What is even more important, people's awareness of the value system to which Montenegro should belong has changed significantly." , said Brajović in his introductory presentation on the panel "European integration – driving force for strengthening democracy and progress".
As announced by the Parliament of Montenegro, during the meeting between Brajović and the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, the importance of parliamentary cooperation for further deepening of relations between Montenegro and Georgia was highlighted.
"It was assessed that the existing excellent political cooperation is a prerequisite for strengthening cooperation in the field of economy and tourism. In the context of European integration, President Brajović expressed the readiness of Montenegro, as a leader in the process of accession to the European Union, to provide support and expert assistance to Georgia. President Parliament Speaker Kobakhidze reminded that our two countries achieved stability and prosperity after the restoration of independence, and that they share the same values and strive for integration into the European Union," the statement of the Parliament of Montenegro states.
The announcement adds that during Brajović's conversation with the President of Georgia, Georgi Margvelashvili, Montenegro's full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders was highlighted.
"In the context of NATO integration, which was also discussed, the President of the Assembly expressed the readiness of Montenegro to share its experiences from the integration process with everyone who shares the same values and standards of the Alliance," the announcement reads.
The Assembly also said that tomorrow Brajović will meet with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Georgi Kvirikashvili.
In the delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro visiting Georgia, there is also MP and member of the friendship group with Georgia Nikola Rakočević.
