Tsarević: Montenegro should return the property illegally taken from Karađorđević

Montenegro must return the property it illegally took from the Karađorđević family, said Marko Bato Carević, president of the Municipality of Budva.

"The Karađorđevićs are leading proceedings against the state and they will prove that the property in Miločer is theirs, but that process is taking place outside the municipality of Budva. The Karađorđevićs are asking for their property to be returned to them, and they are not asking for compensation. It is less important how much it is worth, they just want their property back, it belongs to them by law. In every serious country that knocks on the door of the EU, in the pre-accession negotiations, it is said that the rule of law is guaranteed, so it should be fair," said Carevic for the Nova.rs portal.

The Karađorđević family, he points out, "paid everything fairly to the Paštrovićs."

"It is a surname whose history is linked to Sveti Stefan. The same Paštrovićs were hired by the state to work on this area, in order to make a profit on the construction of buildings, but on other people's property. The state must return this property and that is all legally clean and clear. Now, however, politics got involved, and everything turned into a dispute between the Petrović and Karađorđević families. In the euphoria of the creation of the Montenegrin state, the government was silent. That's why some people see the Karađorđevićs as occupiers and don't want to return what belongs to them. However, if the state is interested in keeping other people's people, then it should pay them fairly," Tsarević believes.
