On July 20, the Parliamentary Committee for the Political System, Judiciary and Administration will begin consulting with candidates from the ranks of distinguished lawyers who have applied for membership in the Prosecutor's Council.
1 candidates applied for the competition for four positions from among distinguished lawyers in the new Prosecutor's Council, which lasted until July 16.
The Parity Commission, which was composed of two members each from the government and the opposition, determined that all candidates meet the conditions required by law and that they submitted complete documentation.
Marica Babović, Danijela Bulatović, Nikola Bulatović, Nevenka Božović - Jovović, Miloš Vuksanović and Siniša Gazivoda will be heard on Tuesday.
Next before the Board will be Balša Dragović, Borivoje Đukanović, Maja Zeković, Filip Jovović and Dalibor Kavarić.
Next Thursday, the members of that parliamentary body will hear Elvis Duraković, Nikola Medojević, Zdenka Perović, Jovan Poleksić and Savo Šofranc.
At the session, the members of that Committee made a decision to send a request to Acting Supreme State Prosecutor Dražen Burić to submit a special report on work related to public advertisements for the selection of heads of the State Prosecutor's Office.
DPS deputies Miloš Nikolić and Dragutin Papović voted against. The board expects VDT to submit a report within the next five days.
That initiative was submitted by Democratic Front (DF) deputy Predrag Bulatović on July 12, who stated that the special report would refer to information regarding the announcement of public advertisements to fill vacancies in the state prosecutor's office, as well as for heads of state prosecutor's offices in the period after entry into force of the Law on Amendments to the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office.
The report should also contain information related to the termination of the office of state prosecutors due to fulfilling the conditions for exercising the right to an old-age pension and the termination of the office of the head of the state prosecutor's office upon termination of the prosecutor's office.
Bulatović said at the Committee that the transitional provisions of the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, among other things, defined that before the law enters into force, all started processes related to the elections in the prosecutor's office shall be suspended by force of law.
He pointed out that by adopting the amendments to the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office, they wanted the new VDT and TS to start staffing the prosecution as a whole.
"It should be requested to define whether, after the entry into force of this law, public advertisements were announced for heads of state prosecution offices, whether it was announced for VDT... and whether competitions for the selection of state prosecutors were announced," Bulatović said. .
The board also adopted an initiative to send a request to the acting VDT to submit a special work report to them within five days, in accordance with Article 147, paragraph 5 of the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office, and in connection with the application of Article 184 a of that law. This was also proposed by Bulatović, who stated that the Board should receive a report in order to see what was done in the prosecutor's organization for the selection of members of the Prosecutor's Council from their ranks. DPS MPs also voted against this initiative.
Koprivica pointed out that Article 184 a stipulates that the nomination of candidates and the creation of a list for the selection of members of the Prosecutor's Council from the ranks of state prosecutors shall be carried out within 30 days from the date of entry into force of the Law.
"That deadline has already passed, so it is completely legitimate for us as the competent working body to obtain information at which stage the application of that law is," said Koprivica.
