The President of the Municipality of Kolašin Milosav Bulatović should resign, after, by the decision of the High Court, he was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of six months due to the abuse of his official position, according to deputy and head of the Demokrata committee Vladimir Martinović. According to him, "the verdict against the President of the Municipality is the best confirmation that the current Kolasin government (DPS-GB-SD) has been working illegally from the very beginning".
"What any responsible individual would do in a situation like this is to submit an irrevocable resignation from office, which the Law on Local Self-Government also provides for, but not Bulatović. However, Bulatović hopes that some former state officials will help him, by putting pressure on higher court instances, so that the verdict is canceled or changed. In return, the sale of municipal land should begin for the personal and family interests of those who promise it," Martinović claims.
As the vice-president of the Democrats says, it will be "interesting to observe certain structures of the government that have been playing with the opposition within the government lately, how they will react to this issue." Martinović believes that it will be "irresponsible and calculating, just like before". He says that "these days on the Kolašin political scene there is a great reconciliation of the 'disputing sides' of the government".
"They will try to sell reconciliation to the citizens of Kolašina in the form of new or reforming existing local political structures with certain businessmen, who are obviously not even aware that they have fallen into an illegal network woven by local authorities. This is reflected in the daily allowing of illegal actions to the detriment of both the citizens of the municipality of Kolašin and state resources," claims Martinović.
Democrats will, he announces, "vigilantly monitor the pressures on state bodies, as well as the legality of local self-government." Everything, as he explains, "with the aim of unraveling numerous frauds that are being tried in a very perfidious way to serve the citizens of Kolasin Municipality in preparation for the local elections".
"We warn all those who will find themselves in this text that the rule of law has begun to function, but that it must show the rule of law and institutions even more strongly and at every opportunity. All this will soon intensify through the reforms that await us in the prosecution. Enough of the selective application of the law," concludes Martinović.
