Montenegro understands and appreciates the efforts of Kiev in the direction of establishing the Crimean platform, which is aimed at finding a permanent diplomatic solution to the issue - said Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović today in Kiev, where he is staying at the invitation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
The summit, which was organized on the occasion of the establishment of the Crimean Platform, was attended by the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić, presidents, prime ministers and ministers from 33 countries, as well as representatives of the EU and NATO - a total of 46 delegations.
Radulović, as announced by the ministry, emphasized during his presentation that diplomacy is always the best answer and that there is no alternative to a diplomatic solution to important global issues, adding that today's meeting is an opportunity for the participants to familiarize themselves with the goals of the Crimean Platform.
A Declaration was also adopted at the Summit in Kyiv, calling for joint diplomatic efforts to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders.
Radulović said that, in addition to nurturing traditional friendship and close bilateral ties, Montenegro and Ukraine cooperate closely in the field of tourism and economy. At the end of the presentation, he congratulated the upcoming Independence Day of Ukraine, August 24, and wished for further prosperity of the Ukrainian people.
The head of Montenegrin diplomacy, as reported, had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu, to whom he expressed his condolences regarding the floods and fires that have hit Turkey. "The heads of diplomacy expressed their satisfaction with the continuity of the political dialogue at the high and working level, which was confirmed during the visit of Minister Radulović to Antalya and his participation in the SEECP meeting and the Antalya Forum," the announcement states.
During the conversation, the historical significance of the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Montenegro on August 28, as well as the importance of the planned visit of the President of the Turkish Parliament, was particularly pointed out. The ministers discussed the further improvement of relations in the field of economy and investment attraction, as well as current global issues, with a focus on the situation in Afghanistan. Confirming the excellent relations between the two countries, Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed his willingness to visit Montenegro in the future.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the minister also spoke in separate meetings with the Prime Minister and Head of Diplomacy of Croatia, Andrej Plenković and Gordan Grlić Radman, the US Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Grenholm, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Promotion of France, Frank Rister, as well as the Minister of Foreign Trade and of Dutch development cooperation by Tom De Bruijn, at which special gratitude was expressed to Montenegro for the Government's decision to host children from flooded areas of the Netherlands on the coast.
At the meetings, the importance of intensifying bilateral cooperation, as well as strengthening economic ties, was emphasized, while the strong alliance within the Alliance was confirmed and support for the European perspective of Montenegro was expressed.
