Sullivan: Vučić tells Russia one story, the West another, Djukanović has been doing the same for years

Drew Sullivan, one of the founders of the Project for Reporting on Organized Crime and Corruption (OCCRP), which is the publisher of the "Pandora Papers", said in an interview with the daily newspaper "Nova" that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is connected, through his brother Andrej, with groups that have a foothold in organized crime.

Sullivan, as reported by the portal Nova.rs, answered the question why the West does not react to the scandals that shake the government in Serbia, and said that there are two reasons.

"The European Union and the United States of America are not fully aware of how bad the situation is in Serbia. They are not aware of how closely Vučić is connected, through his brother, to groups that have a foothold in organized crime. Organized crime is the main financier of his party. They cannot to prove it, but I am convinced that it is true. Vučić has gone from a democratic leader, who is partly corrupt, to an autocratic leader who still does not reveal his true nature. The Western world still does not understand to what extent he is corrupt." , he stated.

Sullivan said that the second reason is of a foreign policy nature:

"Vučić shrewdly uses Russia in the conflict with the West. He tells Russia one story and the West another, which is very similar to what Milo Đukanović has been doing in Montenegro for years. They are afraid that Vučić will completely turn towards Russia, if they start being harsher dealing with him," Sullivan said.
