URA: We stand firmly with the citizens who want Sinjajevina without training grounds, the Government to fulfill its promise

The civil movement URA firmly stands by the locals and all citizens who have been protesting and fighting against the establishment of a military training ground on Sinjajevina for years and will remain so until their demands are met and until the largest Montenegrin mountain receives the status of a protected area, in whose protection and management the local community will participate, the party announced today.

That is why, as they said, they will once again invite the Ministry of Defense and Minister Olivera Injac to propose as soon as possible, and the Government to adopt a decision to cancel the decision to establish a military training ground in Sinjajevina, in order to finally fulfill the clear request of the citizens.

"Unfortunately, and almost a year after the establishment of the new Government and the parliamentary majority, the residents of Sinjajevina are still forced to protest and demand that what we all promised them on August 30, 2020, as winners, be fulfilled - and that is Sinjajevina without a military training ground. It is time to finally forget all our political disagreements, to turn to the citizens who want to see us united and united, to think above all of their well-being, and when they are well, our country will also progress. It is time to with the training ground at Sinjajeva's crossroads, to finally restore peace to the people of Katun, and we all justify the trust we have received."

URE notes that Sinjajevina has exceptional agricultural potential and that it should once again "be what it once was - the breadwinner of Montenegro".

"As an agricultural asset, it will best take care of the safety of the citizens by feeding them. That is why thinking about how to bring soldiers to Sinjajevina should be replaced by a strategy of how to return cattle herders to Sinjajevina. Sinjajevina and its population need roads, electricity, enrichment of livestock, reconstruction katun, not bombs and destruction."

For the Citizens' Movement URA, as they said, "there is no dilemma that citizens should be listened to, because that is democracy".

"Without preserved Sinjajevina, there is no ecological Montenegro, and for the URU, an ecological, civil and democratic Montenegro has no alternative," the announcement concludes.
