Citing the sentence of the French philosopher and writer Jean-Paul Sartre, "Commitment is an act, not a word", the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Đorđe Radulović, in his online contribution to the Conference on the Future of Europe, which is being held in Strasbourg, and in which our country is participating for the first time, presented what does the European integration process mean for Montenegro.
The proof of such acts, as he said, is the determination of the Government to apply a policy of zero tolerance to corruption and organized crime, and to place the rule of law as the basis of the negotiation process for the sake of the progress of the entire society.
Radulović, as announced by the MFA, emphasized in this context that the reforms do not represent a concession to the EU, but a pledge for a better life for the entire Western Balkans region. When it comes to Montenegro, an additional incentive and obligation to persevere on the path of EU integration and to make this priority a pillar of foreign policy is the determination of our citizens, among whom as many as 73 percent support the idea of membership in the Union, added the minister.
Precisely because the democratic values and principles of the EU are the direction in which they want to go, as he said, "we owe it to our citizens to fully live these values", additionally emphasizing the obligation of the countries of the Western Balkans to emphasize the importance of a greater presence of the EU in the region.
Along these lines, Radulović confirmed that Montenegrin's geostrategic orientation is clear, which, as the MFA adds, is proven by the XNUMX% compliance with the Common Foreign and Security Policy, and "which was also confirmed by the European Commission's latest report on the situation."
Radulović also emphasized that the process of European integration is the most effective mechanism for achieving a better standard of living and the European system of values that Montenegro strives for, stressing that our country is proud of its commitment to good neighborly policy and regional cooperation.
Once again emphasizing that EU integration is important for Montenegro, the minister said that "investing in the stability and prosperity of the region is actually investing in the security and future of the whole of Europe", which is why involvement in the work of the Conference that will outline its future is extremely important, he concludes in the announcement.
