Due to the alarming information presented by the Zeta URA regarding the numerous accumulated problems in the agricultural sector, that party sent a letter from the central level today to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management requesting that the Government department react in accordance with its competences.
"A bag of combined fertilizer for agriculture in April of this year cost about 11 euros, and at the moment it has increased to about 28 euros, which is a significant increase in price and puts agricultural producers in an unenviable position", it was announced today from the URE of Zeta and it is stated in a letter that was sent to the line ministry.
The URE of Zeta points out that there are announcements that the price will continue to rise and that it is time for the ministry led by Minister Aleksandar Stijović to take steps.
"For now, from the Ministry of Agriculture, we only have subsidies for planting material (seed crops), while there are no subsidies for preparations and products for treating plant species. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, as a form of help and a way out of an unenviable situation, can provide in the direction of subsidizing these materials as well," said the Zeta URE.
If there is no reaction from the relevant ministry, it will lead to higher prices of agricultural products and completely destroy domestic production, warns URE in Zeta.
They also indicate that the position of agricultural producers is still very unenviable and that little is being done to improve it.
"Foil for seedling material increased in price by 30 percent, material for the "drip by drop" system by 35 percent, while the hourly wage for labor increased from 2,5 euros to 3,5 euros. In the last few years, nothing has been done to protect the domestic product, and imports have increased by as much as 85 percent. Such things are inadmissible", indicate from URE in Zeta.
As a special problem, they state that the largest retail chain "Voli" in Ulcinj has planted plant species that are traditionally grown by agricultural producers in Montenegro, which creates unfair competition for them.
"We will not allow three importers to be richer than all agricultural producers in the country. We believe that we will find this idea in the relevant ministry and other institutions that control the process of import of agricultural products and that they will understand our appeal", they conclude.
