Vučić to Krivokapić: Good relations between Serbia and Montenegro are extremely important for the stability of the region

Good relations between Serbia and Montenegro are extremely important for the stability of the entire region, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today.

As announced on the official website of the President of Serbia, Vučić today "met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić, with whom he exchanged opinions on the possibilities for improving bilateral and regional cooperation, as well as further deepening of economic relations".

"Intensive and continuous dialogue at a high level is the main prerequisite for creating a climate of better understanding and easier overcoming of possible differences between the two countries. The Republic of Serbia attaches special importance to the further development of overall bilateral relations with Montenegro, in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect. I believe that we share the opinion that the stabilization of relations and their overall improvement can occur if there is a will and readiness for it on both sides, with mutual respect and understanding of common needs and interests," said Vučić.

It was also announced on the website of the President of Serbia that "the Prime Minister of Montenegro expressed his willingness to improve the relations between the two countries in all aspects of mutual interest".

"Montenegro welcomes the strategy of measured steps for mutually beneficial relations between the two countries," Krivokapić said.

Speaking about European integration, Vučić pointed out that Serbia strongly supports all the countries of the region on the way to membership in the European Union, and that in this sense mutual support is extremely important.

"The interlocutors also agreed that there is a mutual interest in the revitalization of the infrastructure that connects the two countries, while they emphasized that the construction of road and railway infrastructure, as well as further work on energy projects, and joint participation in third markets are of great importance. President Vučić and Prime Minister Krivokapić, in this regard, particularly emphasized the strategic importance of the construction of the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway and the modernization of the Belgrade-Bar railway," concludes the announcement on the website of the President of Serbia.
