Escobar: The USA stands by all those who support a sovereign and civil Montenegro

The United States of America stands with all those who support a sovereign, inclusive and civil Montenegro.

It was announced from of the American Embassy in Podgorica after a meeting withof the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar with Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić.

"At the meeting, Escobar urged Prime Minister Krivokapić to keep the Government's focus on the reforms necessary to speed up Montenegro's accession to the European Union," the US embassy said in a Twitter post.

It is added that Escobar encouraged stronger economic integration of the region.

"The US stands with all those who support a sovereign, inclusive and civil Montenegro," the US embassy said in a statement.

Krivokapić said that the conversation with Escobar took place in a friendly and productive atmosphere.

The Prime Minister stated on his Twitter account that the fight against corruption, intensive regional cooperation and the country's unreserved commitment to EU integration are extremely important for Montenegro.

"Montenegro and the USA remain steadfast NATO allies in the fight for the highest democratic values ​​and ideals," said Krivokapić.
