US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Gabriel Escobar attended a round table with civil society leaders during his visit to Montenegro.
Escobar, as stated by the American Embassy in Podgorica on Twitter, emphasized the importance that the United States attaches to the fight against corruption and the vital role that civil society plays in promoting transparency and accountability.
"Corruption seriously threatens Montenegrin democracy and the prosperity of its citizens," said Escobar.
The round table was attended by: Executive Director of the Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector (MANS) Vanja Ćalović Marković, President of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Alternatives Stevo Muk, Program Director of the Center for Democratic Transition (CDT) Milica Kovačević and Executive Director of the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM) Milena Bešić.
