Never in these 30 years has there been a fiercer offensive against independent Montenegro, its civic character, its multi-ethnic democracy and its European path, than there was last year, announced the President of Montenegro and the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Milo Đukanović. .
DPS announced that "in order to continue internal party reforms, the 9th Municipal Election Conference was held in Rožaje and a new convocation of the municipal board was elected".
"Another in a series of conferences is an indication that the DPS is intensively continuing with the personnel strengthening of the party, which is the fulfillment of one of the main goals set at the Congress in January of this year," the DPS statement reads.
Đukanović said that Rožaje gave enormous support not to the national, but to the civil politics of the DPS.
"I do not ignore the national composition of Rožaj, but it only confirms that we do not think nationally, God forbid, nationalistically, but we know that people live here who are deeply aware that Montenegro has no survival, and therefore not all of us in it, if we are not building a civil state. The moment we make a fatal mistake, to start national conflicts in Montenegro, if we start to respond to Greater Serbian nationalism with Montenegrin or any other nationalism, that would be the end of Montenegro. So, we are very convinced that Montenegro is destined to be a civil state due to its structure, and let's not forget its history," said Đukanović in Rožaj.
DPS Presidency member Nikola Rakočević said that "it is necessary to reaffirm politics, in order to be part of a new majority again, and that is why we need to be together because we need unity the most".
"Since 1995, there have been several setbacks in our political efforts, but each time we stood up after the fall and as a result achieved an independent, civil, multi-ethnic Montenegro that is on the European path. Significant credit for all major achievements in state politics goes to all minorities peoples in Montenegro," said Rakočević.
Mehmed Husović said that the Municipal Committee of DPS Rožaje, of which he is the president, is one of the better committees within the party.
"The result we achieved in Rožaje should not be overlooked if we bear in mind the fact that our party is headed by President Milo Đukanović, the founder of civil Montenegro, a state in which national and religious differences are treated as an asset and not as a problem or deficiency." announced Husovic.
In the press release of the DPS, it is stated that "at the meeting, it was pointed out that in the previous two decades, thanks to human resources, courage and vision, the DPS managed to turn the hundred-year-old dream of restoration of statehood into reality, to democratically and economically strengthen the state, introduce it into NATO and make is the most serious candidate for EU membership".
"It was also said that for just one year of irresponsible rule, the current government managed to bring Montenegro into uncertainty and return it to the beginning of the nineties of the last century, and it was jointly stated that our party resolutely opposed this," the DPS statement reads.
