Krivokapić: Solving the issue of compensation for mothers with three or more children must be in line with fiscal neutrality

Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić said today that the Government supports solving the issue of compensation for mothers with three or more children, but it must be done in accordance with the principle of fiscal neutrality, in a healthy way and without any discrimination.

During the prime minister's hour, in response to a question from the president of the Democrats - Demos - Peace is our nation, Boris Bogdanović, he said that if this principle was not respected, they would end up in a situation where mothers' allowances would be abolished after a year.

"We support every good initiative in the field of social and child protection, but for the proposal to return benefits to mothers with three or more children, a fiscal assessment of the impact on the budget was not prepared in order to express their opinion", said the Prime Minister during the prime minister's hour in the Parliament.

Members of the Democratic Front (DF) Parliamentary Club do not attend the prime minister's hour.

Krivokapić reminded that the benefits were foreseen by the amendments to the Law on Social and Child Protection from 2016, and 22.051 women exercised that right.

He also reminded based on the decision of the Constitutional Court, which declared the provision on benefits unconstitutional.

Bogdanović asked whether the Government would give a positive opinion on the Bill on compensation for former beneficiaries of benefits based on the birth of three or more children and on the amendment of the Social and Child Protection Act, which restores child allowances for children up to 18 years of age.

Bogdanović said that they promised back in 2014, when Democratic Montenegro was founded, that they would correct the injustice.

"The promise given to mothers of pensioners and children up to the age of 18 will certainly be realized... We know that it is not right to mislead people, as the previous government did to mothers, it gave them allowances and then took them away," said Bogdanović.

He added that the law was not fair, it was discriminatory, but the previous government did not care about it, "they corrected and revised it".

Bogdanović said that they are ready to "fight" arguments with those who are against these solutions, with those who are "very worried about the state's finances, especially now that they cannot steal and take for themselves".

"We are proud that the state can correct the injustices of the former regime, that the state has the means, that we can fulfill the promise made to mothers, children and pensioners," said Bogdanović.
