The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Zdravko Krivokapić, said that the population census will certainly be held next year, perhaps in October.

He recalled the recommendations that the census should not be organized in the year when the elections are held and said that he would see "how the elections will be".

"The government outlined in the work program that the fourth quarter will be dedicated to this law, and a draft law on the census was created, which had a public discussion. The public discussion had to be more transparent, because only one party participated, which could be corrected in to the Parliament through amendments. The draft has been sent to the European Commission and that part will be completed very soon," said Krivokapić in the Parliament during the Prime Minister's Hour, answering a question from Dragan Ivanović, deputy of the Socialist People's Party (SNP).

He said that they do not expect substantial comments from the European Commission (EC), so after that they will adopt the Draft at the first session of the Government and send it to the Parliament.

Ivanovic asked when citizens can expect a census of the population, households and apartments and whether there will be one.

He said that it would be a pity if the census did not take place and if the citizens expected it.

"I expect that the EC, to which the draft law was sent, will understand this," Ivanovic said.
