Defense Minister Olivera Injac said that the final decision on the acquisition of new helicopters, as well as the partners with whom it will be implemented, will be made in the coming period.
"With the plan to start planning budget funds from 2023, after a detailed analysis of needs and economic parameters, which will be precisely defined in the strategic documents," said Injac, answering today in the Parliament to a parliamentary question by Predrag Bošković (DPS) when can expect the acquisition of two more Bell 505 helicopters, which was announced in the media.
Injac said that with regard to the further modernization of the Air Force of the Army of Montenegro, which includes the acquisition of new helicopters in view of the earlier decision to exclude from use the aircraft inherited from the period before 2006, the possibility of continuing cooperation with partners from Canada is being considered.
Injac said that the proposal for the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Todor Goranović to the post of General Director of the Intelligence and Security Directorate in the Ministry of Defense (MoD) was sent to the members of the Defense and Security Council on November 10, 2021.
She stated that, according to the information available to the MoD, the Prime Minister and the Assembly signed the Decision on the appointment of Goranović.
"This Decision, along with 30 other Decisions that were addressed to Council members in the same group, was submitted to the Cabinet of the President of Montenegro on November 15, 2021. The Ministry of Defense has not yet received any feedback on the status of this or other Decisions that are in same group of documents delivered to the Cabinet of the President of Montenegro," Injac said.
She announced this, answering a question from Bošković and whether she sent a proposal for the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Todor Goranović to the position of director of the Directorate for Intelligence and Security Affairs to the Council for Security and Defense, as the Constitution requires.
