Retrograde policies threaten the European integration of the Western Balkans, it was assessed at the meeting of the leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Đukanović and the delegation of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
As announced by the DPS, the meeting discussed the current social and political challenges faced by Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the region as a whole.
"It was assessed that the retrograde policies promoted in the region have contributed to the fact that today the topic of European integration of the Western Balkans is replaced by the topic of threatened stability, which must be a warning sign for everyone who wants a stable and prosperous region," the statement said.
Đukanović, as stated, referred to the policies that cost the Western Balkans dearly in the past, and pointed out that the engagement of actors who are revitalizing that policy today is not surprising.
He said that much more attention and responsibility of all the states of the region to the overall events in these areas is needed, in order to get closer to common strategic goals.
"The region urgently needs an alliance of pro-European political forces, which will not allow nationalists to drag us into new lags, and civil politics is the only formula for peace and stability in the region," said Đukanović.
As reported, he praised the cooperation that the DPS achieved in the previous period with the Bosnian Social Democrats, institutionally, but also through inter-party cooperation.
Đukanović said that he is convinced that in the coming period, the engagement of progressive policies will strengthen the joint efforts of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina in building multi-ethnic and multi-confessional democratic societies.
The president of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, said that he is concerned about the current events in that country.
Nikšić pointed out that sovereignty and legal order are threatened in BiH.
He thanked Đukanović for supporting BiH and the Bosnian Social Democrats in the fight to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the state.
Nikšić, as announced, welcomed the vision by which DPS achieved historic achievements for Montenegro.
He said that he is convinced that such a policy will successfully respond to attacks coming from the environment, which, as he stated, will be a wind at the back for BiH to deal with attempts to attack its sovereignty and legal order.
