The plans of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts in this year and in 2018 fully coincide with the state policy and represent a strong incentive for social cohesion and the further development of Montenegro, said Prime Minister Duško Marković.
He spoke with the Presidency of CANU today.
"What you do and how the Government sees your role in contributing to the state and social cohesion completely match. Your topics hit the center of our state needs," said Marković.
The president of CANU academician Dragan K. Vukčević, as announced by the Government, informed Marković that in the past year the Academy carried out 17 scientific and research projects, held 16 international meetings and more than 50 scientific panels, published about thirty books and contracted cooperation with six ministries , all three universities and several national institutions and business associations, as well as that CANU is planning for 2018 projects such as commemorating the 130th anniversary of the General Property Code of Valtazar Bogišić, the Archaeological Map of Montenegro, the display of Montenegrin literature from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXst century, lexicographic editions of Montenegrin diplomacy and fine artists, jubilee edition of Gorski vijenc...
"We are trying to make the Academy Montenegrin in the civil and state sense," said Vukčević, adding that the Presidency of the Academy is open to all projects that stabilize and unify Montenegro and promote national continuity and identity.
Marković evaluated the performance of CANU in 2016 as impressive, saying that he was pleased not only by the large number of projects important for Montenegro and the Academy's vision, but especially by the fact that the concluded cooperation agreements with ministries and universities confirm the readiness for cooperation in the implementation of specific projects.
"Positive impulses, ideas, messages and advice came from here that benefited me, and I believe the Government as well. That is why the Government will support the mentioned projects of the Academy. There will be no savings. Savings can be made in other positions," Marković said at the meeting. that the next period of social development of Montenegro will be marked by greater investment in science and knowledge.
In the discussion, the members of the Presidency of the Academy, as announced by the Government, recognized the activities of the Government "which led to respectable economic growth and consolidation of public finances".
At the meeting, it was concluded that the construction of the new building of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts will be one of the priorities of the Directorate of Public Works in 2018.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, Darko Radunović, and the director of the Public Works Directorate, Almer Kalač.
