The protest due to the repeated refusal to include the Bill on the banning of fascist, neo-fascist and military nationalist organizations and the use of their symbols in the agenda of the parliamentary session will be held tomorrow (Thursday, December 16) in front of the parliament building.
MP of the Liberal Party (LP) Andrija Popović proposed three times that this law be discussed at the plenum, but it was rejected each time by the majority of votes.
LP announced that, by refusing to consider that bill, Montenegrin MPs and political parties showed that they do not care about respecting the greatest achievements of modern and democratic society and the basic postulates of the European Union (EU).
From that party, they said that their proposal was supported by only 29 MPs at the session on Monday.
In the LP, they believe that this fact in itself speaks volumes about the state and agony in which Montenegro is, and that it leaves no doubt whether the parliamentary majority itself is truly advocating for anti-fascist achievements and the development of society on these grounds.
It is stated that it is clear that on Monday, among the 81 deputies, there were only 29 anti-fascists and fighters for the most sacred ideals on which Montenegro was built for decades.
"Pseudo-anti-fascists who pin a badge symbolizing anti-fascism on their lapel only on holidays or some festive celebrations think, or I guess they really believe, that persistent refusal to discuss this law can stop the tide of change that is coming and brings some new social and historical context," he says. in the announcement of LP.
It is judged that it is not enough to just take a picture next to a NOB monument or a memorial and communicate a few phrases and empty platitudes, but that for true anti-fascism one must break ties with all those who promote neo-fascist ideology.
The LP said that Montenegrin society must finally step out of the vortex of nationalism, neo-fascism and glorification of war criminals and that only such a Montenegro will be a partner to modern Europe.
"We are witnessing that the specters of retrograde ideologies, supported even by some political parties, have openly moved into anti-fascist and libertarian Montenegro," the LP statement points out.
It is stated that in the previous two years, revisionism and the relativization of anti-fascism were often openly referred to, while at the same time the Chetnik ideology was promoted wholeheartedly with the help of individuals and groups close to the churches of Serbia and ideologues of the so-called "Serbian world".
The LP believes that it is the last moment to prevent further disintegration of anti-fascist Montenegro and that, "if it is not done now, tomorrow may be too late".
From that party, they invited all anti-fascists, non-governmental organizations, political parties and those who advocate for a libertarian and open Montenegro without fascism and hatred, to come tomorrow in front of the Assembly and clearly say no to fascism.
