Women's Club of the Assembly: Markuš insulted Vuksanović Stanković in a mundane and primitive way, Krivokapić to react

Member of the National Commission for UNESCO, Jovan Markuš, insulted the member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Draginja Vuksanović Stanković with a down-to-earth and primitive vocabulary, it was announced today from the Women's Club of the Parliament of Montenegro.

"We are looking for an immediate reaction from the Prime Minister, Zdravko Krivokapić. Attacks on female politicians do not abate, and the Prime Minister remains silent. When it comes to members of his family, the Prime Minister is very sensitive and reacts immediately, even when the announcements are not of an offensive nature. when it comes to female MPs in the Parliament of Montenegro, the Prime Minister forgets that he is at the service of all citizens, so he is ignorant of misogynistic and sexist attacks, even when they come from government employees," the statement of the Women's Club of the Assembly, signed by the co-presidents, emphasizes , Vesna Pavićević and Branka Bošnjak.

The announcement adds that the sexism that has permeated the entire media scene in Montenegro is not abating.

"The most recent case comes from a member of the National Commission for UNESCO, Jovan Markuš, who insulted his respected colleague Draginja Vuksanović Stanković with a down-to-earth and primitive vocabulary. We ask, is it so difficult to argue with the views expressed by women, so he immediately goes for the most primitive misogynistic and sexist statements. We wonder if these "heroes" have a mother, a sister, a daughter. This shameless outburst by a member of the Government Commission towards MP Vuksanović-Stanković exceeded all measure," the announcement reads.

The Women's Club of the Assembly said that "if the Prime Minister remained silent about Vojislav Šešelj's attacks, this time he must not be immune to the sexist outbursts of a member of a Government body".

"That is why we demand from the Prime Minister to condemn this sexist outburst of Mr. Markuš in the strongest terms and to sanction him, because in this example Markuš showed patterns of primitive, unforgivable attitude towards women, politicians in Montenegro. Given that women who are engaged in public work, especially daily exposed to such inadmissible outbursts, one of the priority tasks of the Women's Club in the coming period will be to find legal and other mechanisms for sanctioning all forms of attacks on women", concludes the statement of the Women's Club of the Assembly.
