The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratić, in her address to the protestors tonight, showed intolerance, anger and stigmatization towards politicians of Muslim and Albanian origin by listing and emphasizing their names, Aida Petrović, an activist of the peace and women's movement, said tonight.
This was announced by the Montenegrin Women's Lobby.
"At tonight's protest against the announced minority government, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Vesna Bratić, in her speech exposed her attitude towards minority peoples in Montenegro. Ministers and politicians present at tonight's protest did not show a reaction of indignation or dissociate themselves from insulting and chauvinistic statement of Minister Bratić, on the contrary, Minister Bratić was rewarded with applause for branding people with names that clearly indicate belonging to minority nations and religion. This reaction is not a defense of politicians and their policies, but rather a presentation of the factual situation that unfortunately comes from the Minister of the Four Departments in the Government of Montenegro and which indiscriminately, discriminatoryly, publicly stigmatizes minority peoples by calling out their representatives, which is a reflection of pure fascism," Petrović pointed out.
Tonight, at a protest against the announcement of the "overthrow" of the current government and the possible formation of a minority government, Bratić said, among other things, "does the top of the SNP think that they are bigger, better and more honorable people than Zdravko Krivokapić? And that they and Draginja Vuksanović Stanković, Damir Šehović, Ervin Ibrahimović, Fatmir Đek, Niko Đeljošaj to sign the Basic Agreement"?
Petrović added that "Minister Bratić and all those who share her opinion on the issue of minority peoples should not worry about Montenegrin religious sanctuaries and express their supposed concern for their existence because for centuries all sanctuaries have been defended from various occupiers, jointly guarded and preserved by the Orthodox, Muslims , Catholic".
"As far as I am personally concerned, Minister Bratić should know that no church, mosque, cathedral, monastery, synagogue, are and cannot be hers any more than mine and that her right as a Christian to appropriate them cannot be greater than mine as a Muslim woman, because my ancestral roots are here. Hospitality and respect for anyone who is human is not and will never be questionable from the Montenegrin people of any religion, which Minister Bratić can confirm with her personal example. How she gave back and is giving back to Montenegro "The trust shown to Gora speaks for itself with her actions and attempts to belittle and discredit all those who do not belong to "her people" and belong to Montenegrins, Bosniaks, Muslims, Catholics and other religions and nations in the Montenegrin state," concluded Petrović.
