According to the Report on the Implementation of the Government's Work Program for 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) achieved 88,9 percent of the obligations from that program, which represents the highest level of implementation compared to other departments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.
"In terms of strengthening the system of economic diplomacy, the MFA presented the fifth edition of the document 'Montenegro Investment and Business Opportunities' (MIBO), which focuses on business opportunities in the Montenegrin economy that have the potential for real growth and whose goal is to engage our diplomats even more strongly in promotion of the economy, while the economic potentials of Montenegro are presented through the activities of the diplomatic-consular network in various formats (conversations, presentations, events, conferences, fair manifestations, exhibitions, bazaars, delivery of promotional brochures)," the announcement states.
They said that, in the domain of economic cooperation, initiatives were initiated or continued to conclude a free trade agreement with Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, as well as to amend the Agreement with Ukraine, while the Partnership Agreement, trade and cooperation with the United Kingdom, the Agreement on Economic Cooperation with Kazakhstan, and the Agreement on Mutual Protection of Investments with Hungary.
The first Montenegrin-American economic dialogue was also held, which, according to them, represents an opportunity to strengthen the economic partnership with the United States of America. "Officials of the two countries have confirmed their desire to expand engagement and pursue new economic, trade, investment and commercial opportunities. Also, coordination of dates for holding meetings of mixed commissions with Serbia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary has begun, while with Switzerland, Economic consultations were held with Kazakhstan and Slovakia," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
They also point out that the department contributed to the development of economic diplomacy by supporting the participation of Government delegations in multilateral formats (participation in the Delphi Economic Forum, the Balkan Forum within the framework of the Greek chairmanship of the SEECP, and in the events of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development -OECD, as well as by supporting the intensification of cooperation with international financial institutions, especially the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.Also, activities were realized, in cooperation with other competent departments, within the framework of Montenegro's chairmanship of the Central European Initiative.
"The XIV Summer School for young diplomats 'Gavro Vuković' was held, dedicated to the role and importance of diplomacy in strengthening trust and cooperation with the aim of building a safe and sustainable world, which gathered 70 participants from 30 countries on five continents, as well as 50 distinguished speakers - theorists and practitioners of international relations. In order to strengthen the base of agreements between the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA and related institutions from abroad, since the beginning of 2021, six memoranda of understanding have been agreed, and four have been concluded, with Croatia, Bulgaria, Albania and Hungary," it is concluded in announcement.
