Montenegro and Latvia are countries with similarities from the past and the present, which have built a relationship of friendship and a clear common vision within the framework of membership in NATO and the European future, Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović announced at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkevičs.
Abazović, as announced, thanked Latvia for its continuous support to Montenegro in the field of European integration and emphasized our country's commitment to meeting the temporary measures and criteria as a condition for membership in the European Union.
In this sense, he emphasized that Montenegro is committed to the key principles of foreign policy - alliance within the Alliance, European integration and good-neighborly cooperation. The Deputy Prime Minister said that Montenegro is open to any form of economic cooperation with friendly Latvia.
Rinkvečs pointed out that relations between Latvia and Montenegro are characterized by partnership, openness, and continuous mutual support within the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation formats, according to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
He pointed out that, in addition to the NATO alliance, the relations between the two countries are marked by Latvia's strong support for Montenegro's reform efforts on the way to joining the European Union.
