The Social Democratic Party (SDP) will not support the agenda and program objectives of the minority government, which were not even part of the Zdravko Krivokapić Government Agreement, said Draginja Vuksanović Stanković, a deputy of that party.
She said that the SDP rejects proposals and announcements that a possible minority government should deal with topics such as the Basic Treaty, the census or very dubious regional initiatives such as the Open Balkans.
"It cannot be part of the reform agenda of the minority government, because these are not the priorities of European and civil Montenegro, but of some other factors. I am primarily referring to the Serbian Orthodox Church and Aleksandar Vučić," said Vuksanović Stankovič to the MINA agency.
She believes that Montenegro needs goals and achievements that lead to the European Union, "and not something that looks more like the Serbian world".
"In the end, it is neither natural nor productive for a minority government with a limited mandate to deal with such delicate and at least controversial topics, which can further divide Montenegrin society. This would mean an unforgivable waste of time and continued regression," Vuksnaović Stanković said.
She said that the SDP has not yet had official discussions regarding the minority government.
"The Constitution clearly prescribes a formal procedure when we have this kind of political situation. "Namely, the president of the state is obliged to hold consultations with the representatives of all parliamentary parties and, after those discussions, appoint a representative for the composition of the Government," Vuksanović Stanković said.
She pointed out that the SDP is ready to communicate their view of the current situation to the president of the state, Milo Đukanović, and to the representative.
When asked whether they have taken a final position in relation to the proposal for the formation of a minority government, Vuksanović Stanković stated that they cannot take a position on something that they still do not know how it will look like.
As she said, they don't know what it will look like first of all in the program-political part, and then in all other segments.
"We have publicly stated many times how the SDP sees the current political situation, what are the political priorities for us when it comes to the state of Montenegro and its citizens," Vuksanović Stanković said.
Vuksanović Stanković reiterated that for the SDP the political priorities are the unblocking of institutions, especially the judicial ones, restarting the process of European integration, adoption of electoral legislation, economic and social reforms, protection of human rights, including religious and national issues of crucial importance for the progress of Montenegrin society.
"We must focus our political energy on these important issues if we want to get out of a very difficult situation and repair the consequences of obvious mistakes and illegal decisions left by the Government of Zdravko Krivokapić," Vuksanović Stanković pointed out.
When asked from the ranks of whose party the President of the Assembly could be and who would be an acceptable choice for the SDP, she said that they do not want to bid for any positions and do not deal with it.
According to her, the SDP looks at that process, as well as politics in general, from the point of view of values.
"It is important, I repeat, what we as a political class, that is, society in general, do and what we want to achieve. The functions are only the result of a potential agreement on the strategic directions of the development of Montenegro", said Vuksanović Stanković.
Vuksanović Stanković stated that the SDP believes that one of the goals of a possible minority government is an agreement on the electoral legislation, which requires a two-thirds majority.
"Unfortunately, neither during Krivokapić's mandate, nor during those of the previous Government, was almost any progress achieved in relation to this issue," Vuksanović Stanković said.
She believes that a possible minority government should be fixed for a certain period.
"At this moment, there are still too many open questions and dilemmas that I believe we will soon resolve and know in which direction we are going. The positions of the SDP in relation to all these issues will be very clear", stated Vuksanović Stanković.
As she pointed out, the SDP has said everything about Krivokapić's Government in almost 15 months since it was formed.
According to her, SDP was perhaps the fiercest critic of that government, but always with arguments and facts.
"We were constructive even in relation to some good moves of that government, because we perceive politics in a program-value way and it is important to us what is offered in politics as a solution, not who offers it," said Vukasnović Stanković.
She recalled that the SDP was the initiator of the proposal to replace the Government in December.
Vuksanović Stanković said that they are glad that they started that process, which in the meantime received the support of part of the parliamentary majority, and that with the fall of the bad and incompetent government, a potentially productive process for Montenegro opened up.
"So our position on the government that fell is clear, and we do not want to deal with hypothetical personal solutions. Our focus is on the course and strategic orientation of the state and any future government, which must be unquestionable", said Vuksanović Stanković.
As she stated, fundamental and basic things cannot be played with, nor can there be any compromises with them.
"Our policy is state-building and reform - clear, clean and understandable to every citizen of this country, and it will be like that in the future," concluded Vuksanović Stanković.
