A new protest against the announcement of the formation of a minority government was held in Podgorica tonight.
According to the estimation of "Vijesti" reporters from the field, the protest was attended by thousands of citizens.
They gathered around 18:XNUMX p.m. across the street from the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, and then after the address of the leader of the Democratic Montenegro Alekse Bečić, the vice-president of that party Danilo Šaranović, Mitra Paunović, a graduate of the Podgorica School of Economics, and Marko Popović, a master's student at the Faculty of Philosophy, walked through Morača.
They came again to the Temple, where tonight's protest ended.
Šaranović announced a new gathering in Podgorica for next Wednesday.
During his address to the crowd, Bečić said that the alleged majority of 49 MPs for the formation of a minority government - failed.
"Where the will of the people does not reside, corruption and crime reside... Montenegro must never live in divisions again. It needs reconciliation, harmony, economic prosperity... Thank you for the magnificent gatherings that led us to disrupt the plans those who took the treacherous path and enabled us to achieve several victories. We prevented them from electing an anti-democratic government in February, according to a quick procedure. They cannot implement that now on a whim. Now all the power is in the hands of the Vice President of the Assembly, Strahinja Bulajić. Second, there is no postponement of (local) elections. On March 27, we will go to the elections in Berane and Ulcinj, and at the end of May in Podgorica and about fifteen other municipalities. They will see then what the will of the people is. We will witness the greatest victory of the will of the people. The third thing is that the Democratic Party is a socialist (DPS) after 17 years went to the opposition in Cetinje," Bečić pointed out.
Bečić stated that citizens do not want DPS and a return to unfreedom, and that they are fed up with the "anti-democratic system of government".
"That's why these are big and significant victories. We have one more - now it's clear to everyone, after the latest statements and dissatisfaction of the membership of certain parties, that the supposed majority of 49 deputies for the new minority government - has failed. The question is whether they have more than forty-one, and let alone 49 deputies. That's why we have to continue even more decisively, massively and energetically."
He pointed out that he has a united Montenegro and people of all religions and nations behind him.
"My heart is full that I recognized even those for whom these are the first protests, and who may not have voted for any of the winning coalitions. Montenegro is our mother, we do not have a reserve country. The only division that should exist is between officials who servants of the people and those who give state funds to privileged individuals. We serve only Montenegro. We may not be very popular in some regional power centers. We will not serve Belgrade, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Tirana, but only Montenegro. I can only be a servant to the people of Montenegro. No one I owe nothing to others. We can be partners with everyone, but I am bound only by the will of the people of Montenegro," underlined Bečić.
He announced new protests.
"You hear that the problem is quarrels. There were quarrels even before August 30, 2020, so it was not a problem to form the government after that, because everyone said - not with the DPS. I said I was ready to apologize and everything I'm only sorry if they say they won't do it with DPS. But they didn't want to say it. That's the only dividing line - between those who want to form a parliamentary majority with DPS and those who don't. It will be an increasingly complicated situation for them because the people will protesting more and more. I know they expected to implement this plan quickly. But you have shown that there is no obstacle and money that can buy us and you. I will continue - on the weekend, on Saturday at 18 pm, in Nikšić. Wednesday at 18 pm again in Podgorica. Stand up, Montenegro, because you never gave in. Defend the electoral will, so that crime and corruption do not win."
The gathered citizens chanted "Aleksa, Aleksa".
Official and member of the Democratic Party Šaranović said that he is calm because he knows that everyone together will not allow the electoral will to be changed.
Then he invited citizens to take a peaceful walk.
A torchlight was held while the motorcade was walking along the 13th of July Street.
Earlier in his address, Saranović said that there is no breaking the electoral will, betraying the government "by remote control of the DPS".
"Good evening, freedom-loving Montenegro. After the magnificent protest last Wednesday, and the protests in Kolašin and Pljevlja, thank you for coming tonight," Saranović pointed out.
A graduate of the School of Economics from Podgorica, Mitar Paunović, said that "it is the right time for me and my entire generation to raise our voices and not allow what is happening".
"And what is happening is what puts our entire future at stake. Tonight we defend the right of all citizens to be represented by the platforms they voted for, not the platforms they voted against. The European value is not solving the political crisis in secret meetings, away from the public eye. Let's not to those who are not here with us, do not say any bad words, because they will also understand that these are the values that will win. The citizens want the calling of extraordinary parliamentary elections," Paunović pointed out.
Master's student of the Faculty of Philosophy, Marko Popović, said that they gathered not to defend the armchairs, but because of the future of the youth.
"All of us are leading perhaps the most important game in the history of Montenegro. Our country deserves a better future. Montenegro can and must be better," Popović said.
The crowd chanted "Dritana the thief" and "You took the money Dritana".
Those gathered carried the national flags of Montenegro, the Kingdom of Montenegro, Sandžak, church flags, the flag of the European Union (EU)...
In addition to Bečić and Saranović, there were also other officials of Democratic Montenegro - Momo Koprivica, Vladimir Martinović, Danilo Mrvaljević, Mijo Martinović, Zdenka Popović...
The leader and deputy of Prava Montenegro, Marko Milačić, was also present.
The ministers of finance and economic development, Milojko Spajić and Jakov Milatović, were also at the protest.
By organizing the protest, the measures adopted to prevent the spread of the coronavirus were violated.
Among other things, the measures include wearing a mask in an open space when it is not possible to maintain a physical distance of at least two meters.
