The civil movement URA announced that it "again calls on" the leader of Democratic Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, and the Democratic Front to "suspend the blockade of the Assembly, so that those proposals on a significant reduction in prices are finally adopted."
"After the Government yesterday accepted the proposal of the vice-president of the Civic Movement URA, Goran Đurović, and temporarily abolished the VAT on oil and flour, as well as additionally reduced the excise duty on fuel, in that party, Aleksa Bečić and the Democratic Front (DF) again call on "to suspend the blockade of the Assembly, in order to finally adopt those proposals on a significant reduction in prices," states the URA announcement.
They add that without a session of the Assembly, there will be no abolition of VAT on oil and flour, nor reduction of excise duty on fuel.
"In light of the announced fuel prices, projected after the closing of the stock exchanges, which indicate that from Monday a liter of Eurodiesel and super BMB95 could be around 1,74 euros, and that the price of BMB 98 gasoline will rise to as much as 1,78 euros per liter, only what the political elites can do - is to schedule a session of the Assembly, in order to adopt the proposal to reduce the excise duty, which could reduce the liter by 22 to 26 cents per liter," the URA announced.
They add that the said proposal can be decided only in the Assembly, which they know in the Government, as well as in the parliamentary parties, which continue to block the work of the state Parliament and make it impossible to reduce record prices.
"By reducing the excise duty on an average tank of 60 liters, every citizen of Montenegro would save as much as 15 euros when filling up with fuel, which in this inflationary crisis is a lot. Because of this, neither Bečić nor his coalition partner Mandić have any reason to block the work of the Assembly and make life difficult for the whole of Montenegro".
The URA also responded to the Democrats' accusations, which stated that "the URA wants to abolish the child allowance".
"URA is the first political party, in the last ten years, which was the first to initiate the introduction of child allowance - before the Democrats were even founded. Also, URA voted for the introduction of child allowance and it does not occur to us to subordinate our own successes to changes The government or the political course of the Democrats. The child allowance remains, and the Democrats would do better to turn to European values, instead of fighting with the DF on the streets for everything against what the EU wants and supports.
The URA also told the "outgoing" Minister of Economic Development, Jakov Milatović, "not to worry about the mandate of Dritan Abazović, who has invested the last months in resolving the most important Gordian knot - the political crisis in Montenegro."
"And the resolution of that political crisis is a key prerequisite for its readiness to meet the crisis times caused by the war in Ukraine, as well as to take strong steps towards full membership in the EU. Montenegro has had enough of divisions, two destructive political poles and daily fights. We need stability, agreement on the further direction of development and the final fight against organized crime and corruption," the URA statement concluded.
