Democratic Montenegro held the Second Electoral Convention in Berane, where the new composition of the Municipal Committee of Democrats of Berane was elected.
Local elections are being held in Berane on Sunday, and the leader of the Democrats, Aleksa Bečić, said at the convention that "everything smells like a big, convincing victory".
He is also convinced that the holder of the list of Democrats in Berane "Stand up, defend, win - No betrayal", Damjan Ćulafić, will be the new president of the Municipality of Berane.
The Democrats' announcement states that the convention was attended by "former members and sympathizers" of the Socialist People's Party (SNP).
"You didn't betray anyone - they (SNP leadership) betrayed us and you, but we will pay for that betrayal with a pen on Sunday". Tonight, I also want to greet those of our brothers who, on August 30 and in the earlier period, did not vote for us, but for the former regime, but they saw in these years and a half that we are people who serve Montenegro, that we are people who live for Montenegro, that we are people who bring nothing home except the salary we earn, that we are people who in these circumstances managed to save and that little we saved we gave to everyone - not to one, to others or to third parties, not to one party, to religion or the nation, but to every child, every worker, every pensioner," said Bečić.
In the announcement, Bečić said that "after the event in Kotor, when a couple of councilors left the DPS, he concluded that this artificial respiration that the SNP and the URA tried to give them was obviously of some dubious quality - not that it is not useful, it already clearly hurts, there are more and more people who leave the sinking ship and the party that must be in the past for Montenegro to have a future".
"They turned what they are doing at the state level into a tragicomedy. You remember when they signed that memorandum, we said it was the way to the DPS, and they said it wasn't. Moreover, the SNP leadership told us then that it's a way to separate the minority parties from the DPS. How well they separated them is shown by the following: the Bosniak Party is in a pre-election coalition with the DPS in both Berane and Ulcinj, after the memorandum it signed with the URA and the SNP. In addition, colleagues from URA and SNP the other day: we will be with DPS at the state level, but in Berane we are against DPS, and their key actor from the minority government and memorandum, Mr. Ibrahimović, speaks at the final promotion of DPS last night in Berane While Mr. Ibrahimović and Šehović are speaking in Berane the night before last night at the final promotion of DPS, at the same time in Ulcinj URA and SD are performing together in the pre-election campaign and at the Convention they say that they are fighting against DPS. And they all tell us together that they will unite at the state level to lead us towards the European Union. They can only lead us down the path of a dead end, through divisions, through quarrels and through the degradation of our society," said Bečić.
Democratic Montenegro announced that Bečić sent a message to Abazović and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Aljbin Kurti, "that there is no change in borders, that the issue has been put to an end and to stop rattling and playing games."
Ćulafić said that "having seen the results of their flocking to the DPS, and anticipating the debacle in the elections on Sunday, yesterday's colleagues started saying that they will not form a government in Berane with the DPS".
"And the basic question is: why would anyone believe that, when they said the same thing before the parliamentary elections, so today we see how much they keep their word," said Oej Ćulafić.
He added "that history should remember who was the most determined to preserve the will of his people, and who was the most determined to preserve tradition without trading with it."
"I want to congratulate each of you who stood up when he was hit insidiously, who defended the will of his fellow citizen, and who won in the Beran way, bravely, courageously and finally," said Ćulafić.
The President of the Berane Municipality Assembly, Novica Obradović, said that "four years ago, they were threatened from only one direction, we had only one political opponent".
"Thanks to our strength, energy and unity, we managed to preserve power in Berane. However, today our position is more difficult, because this time our opponents are also some who were with us before, and today they are helpers of our traditional political opponent. That's why "It is important that the Democrats are stronger than ever in these elections. A sure victory is staying at the same address and beyond," Obradović said.
Aleksandar Klarić, coordinator of the Young Democrats, as well as Tamara Kenjić and Milun Rmuš, candidates for councilors, addressed the convention.
