Member of the Executive Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Mihailo Volkov said that today during the election day there was an abuse of authority by the Police Administration.
"Subpoenaing a person in the capacity of a citizen has its legally established purpose, which is the detection of criminal and misdemeanor offenses and perpetrators of criminal and misdemeanor offenses. Summoning in addition to that is a classic example of abuse of official authority. It is clear from the statements submitted by the citizens that they were not to know the circumstances under which they make a statement, which indicates the grossest violation of the authority given by law by the police," said Volkov.
Abuse of power, as he said, for daily political purposes, is not something that brings Montenegro closer to the values of the European Union, and that "does not lead us to the society of developed democracies that we should strive for".
"We especially expected the parties that should be part of the European coalition to have a special sensibility when it comes to respecting the rights established by the Constitution and the law, especially those related to restricting the freedom of individuals," concluded Volkov.
