The Women's Club called on Dritan Abazović, the mandate holder for the composition of the new government, to take care of the gender balance of his cabinet.
In the statement signed by the co-presidents Branka Bošnjak and Vesna Pavićević, it is written that according to the statements that can be read in the media, one gets the impression that the announced minority government will have significantly fewer women in ministerial positions compared to the existing one, although the number of departments will be significantly higher.
"Unfortunately, it seems that we can get a dominantly male Government in which there will be only one member of the less represented sex. That is why the Women's Club appeals and warns the representative to take care of the gender balance of his cabinet and not allow this gender imbalance, because if these announcements turn out to be true , then such a Government and such a mandate cannot be considered either European or progressive, because this would be a huge step backwards," the announcement states.
They add that they expect all political actors who will participate or support the so-called the minority Government not to allow less than thirty percent of members of the less represented sex to be in it, although, as they state, according to their participation in the population, that percentage should be fifty percent, which is what we should strive for.
