The formation of a minority government also means the return of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to a state-politically relevant position, as a temporary solution until the next parliamentary elections, which will also mean the definitive return of our party to the position of the pivot of pro-European politics in Montenegro, announced DPS president Milo Đukanović.
As announced by the DPS, he handed out 1.100 membership cards yesterday as part of the action organized by the Youth Council of the DPS of the Capital City.
The statement added that Đukanović "welcomed us to our party and pointed out that the DPS Youth Council, with a special focus on the capital city, has always been the driving force of youth political activism in both Podgorica and Montenegro."
"All the people we most often see in the parliamentary and committee benches, as well as those we saw in the Government until August 30, as the highest party officials, passed through the DPS Youth Council," said Đukanović.
He said that DPS and young people are united by the need for change.
"Young people do not accept the current situation, but want change and improvement. During its thirty-two-year existence, the Democratic Party of Socialists has shown that it is a party that has continuously changed, and predominantly for the better," said Đukanović.
He stated that it is good that the attendees decided that the DPS would be their address where they would engage in politics, since our party has shown that it has the best policy, a clear and clear vision, as well as the determination to realize that vision.
"This is the key comparative advantage of DPS, unlike our political competitors who, as the only distinguishing feature, have animosity towards our party that has grown into pathological hatred over time. On the other hand, DPS has shown an unwavering commitment to reforms, and we, through continuous reforms gathered young people and introduced them to the management of the party. Look at the Presidency and the Club of Deputies, and you will see that it is incomparable to any other party," said Đukanović.
He said that "forced criticism of our party is based mainly on two characteristics of our overall political activity: the length of political tenure, and the length of time in power."
"As if we should be proud of the continuity of defeats and not the continuity of victories. Duration is a sign of quality, and it is very good not only to last but to last as winners," said Đukanović.
The President of DPOS pointed out that this action of the Youth Council is taking place while three significant political processes are ongoing.
"The first process is the formation of a minority government, which also means the return of DPS to a state-politically relevant position, as a temporary solution until the next parliamentary elections, which will also mean the definitive return of our party to the position of the pivot of pro-European politics in Montenegro. The second process is the upcoming the elections in Podgorica, where the same demarcation line will appear again that marks the division between those who see Montenegro as part of Europe and those who, through manipulations, try to chain Balkan societies to the past and backwardness. Therefore, we must not allow that in Podgorica we have dilemmas about that, European politics must win here. Let's not let each one of us contribute to that victory. The third process is the membership re-registration process, which is particularly significant due to the status of our party after the parliamentary elections, because now we can best see who true and sincere supporters of our politics and our party," Đukanović said.
The DPS statement added that the vice-president of that party, Ivan Vuković, "expressed his satisfaction with the large number of young people who joined our party and pointed out that this shows the openness and attractiveness of the DPS for the new generations in Montenegro".
"Young people who have expressed their willingness to engage in politics from the ranks of the Democratic Party of Socialists must set a good example at every moment and in every place and that they have a moral and political obligation to continue on the path that our party has traced in a much more difficult time that behind us," Vuković said.
The President of the Youth Council of DPS Glavno Andrija Klikovac pointed out that the distribution of more than 1.000 membership cards for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 is the best confirmation of the correctness of the path of DPS and European Montenegro, and that the policy and ideas inherited by DPS are a guarantee for further overall development Podgorica and Montenegro.
