Delegations of the Democratic People's Party and the Yugoslav Communist Party of Montenegro, led by presidents Milan Knežević and Radisav Stanišić, laid wreaths at the memorial to Partizan - the fighter in Gorica.
"The ephemeral idea of anti-fascism and national liberation struggle gains particular importance today when fascism and Nazism in modified geopolitical contexts try to present themselves as a civilizational model and trend imposed on humanity for the purpose of revising the past and depersonalizing the future."
"That is why it is necessary to speak even more energetically and unwaveringly to the younger generations about the horrors of the Second World War and the importance of Victory Day, when the capture of the Reichstag by the famous Red Army and the capitulation of Hitler's Germany stopped the war in Europe. On this occasion, we remember with reverence and pride the famous ancestors who died their lives in the defense and liberation of the former common homeland, convinced that their glorious sacrifice was not in vain, but became a beacon of patriotism and defiance towards which we are still governed today," the DNP press release states.
