The fight against crime and corruption, inclusion, comprehensive reforms and visible economic development are the main directions of action of the new Government on the way to the European Union, said Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović at a meeting with the delegation of the European People's Party (EPP) staying in Montenegro.
The EPP delegation is led by Andrej Kovačev, spokesperson for enlargement and neighborhood of the EPP, Rasa Junkevičiene, vice president of the EPP group and their president for foreign affairs, and Vladimir Bilčik, president of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association of the European Union and Montenegro.
"Montenegro has a clear foreign policy that is XNUMX% tied to NATO and the EU," Abazović said at the meeting.
Kovačev, they say, said that the EPP provides full support to Montenegro as a leader in European integration.
"You will have support from the EPP in the European Parliament, and visible results are expected from you. That is why it is necessary to develop a dialogue in the parliament that will lead to results in judicial reform," Kovačev pointed out.
The vice-president of the EPP group, Rasa Junkevičiene, congratulated Abazović on his "political courage and strategic approach in political action, stating that territorially small European countries can contribute a lot to the European Union and peace in Europe".
As further stated, Abazović and the President of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association of the European Union and Montenegro, Vladimir Bilčik, exchanged opinions on internal political issues, the importance of unblocking judicial institutions, challenges on the way and priorities on the way to further reforms.
"Having emphasized the importance of the EPP in the European Parliament, Abazović thanked the EPP delegation for their open support and emphasized that the Government strives for clear results in the field of the rule of law and the fight against corruption, for which he stated that the basic preconditions for such steps had been created in the previous period, above all with the passing of the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office and changes in the Prosecutor's Council, which also led to changes in the management of the Supreme and Special State Prosecutor's Offices," the announcement reads.
Abazović stated that his intention is for the Government and the Assembly to have an open dialogue on all political issues, which, he says, was previously agreed upon in an earlier meeting with the President of the Assembly Danijela Đurović.
"In this sense, President Abazović stated that he will be dedicated to opening a dialogue with all political parties and that as a result of good communication and built trust with members of the government and the opposition, they will succeed together in winning and unblocking the judicial system.
