The local government of Tivat goes to the elections in five columns

Until tonight, a total of five election lists with the names of candidates for councilors in the upcoming extraordinary local elections were submitted to the Tivat Municipal Election Commission, of which it confirmed and declared four, and returned one list for revision due to formal deficiencies.

Election lists with the names of 32 candidates for councilors each, as many as are elected in the new convocation of the Tivat Municipal Assembly, were submitted to the MEC today by three local groups of citizens, almost all of whom participated together in the previous elections and were constituents. coalition of civic lists "The People Wins" (NP), which then, for the first time in 25 years, defeated the DPS at the polls in Tivat.

The list "Željko Komnenović - The People Wins, Democrats and DSS" is led by the current mayor of Tivat, Željko Komnenović. The list "Tivat Action and Goran Božović - honorably and responsibly for a better Tivat - because we can and can do it - Mirko Kovačević" is led by professor of literature and leader of TA, Mirko Kovačević. These two lists were confirmed and announced by the MEC, while they sent back the electoral list "Arsenal for Tivat - Budimir Cupara" for revision, whose holder is Cupara himself, who was the former acting director of the Directorate for Investments of the Municipality of Tivat.

Previously, the MEC Tivat confirmed and announced two more election lists that were submitted to it by the group of citizens "Bokeški Forum" and the group of citizens "Krtoljska lista". Their bearers are Andrija Petković, Ph.D. (Bokeški Forum), until recently the president of the SO Tivat, that is, Jovan Brinić, M.Sc. (Krtoljska lista), the current secretary for finances of the Municipality of Tivat. By the way, "Krtoljska list" is also mostly made up of people who performed in the big coalition "Narod Pobjedjejuje" at the previous elections. BF, on the other hand, was a post-election coalition partner of NP in the current Tivat city administration.

Since the amended Law on Local Self-Government entered into force yesterday, and the President Milo Đukanović accordingly made a decision to amend his previous Decision on calling extraordinary local elections in Tiuvt, which were moved from June 5 to October 23, MEC tonight made a decision to stop the election activities carried out so far. Namely, until now, it was worked according to the election calendar determined in relation to June 5 as the date for holding the election, so according to that, the deadline for handing in the electoral lists was Tuesday, May 10 at midnight.

"Since in accordance with the amendment to the law and the resulting latest decision of the President of the State on changing the date of the election in Tivat, we have to stop the election activities carried out so far, we decided to leave a deadline of 24 hours for other possibly interested participants in the election race to submit their lists, and which they will have in the fall, in accordance with the new calendar of election actions for the new date of going to the polls on October 23." - said to "Vijesta" the president of the MEC Tivat Ognjen Vukasović.
