Acting Director General of the Protection and Rescue Directorate Miodrag Bešović met today with representatives of the protection and rescue system with whom, as announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), "cooperation is necessary in terms of a better and better response to the upcoming fire season".
As announced, the meeting was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro Milutin Đurović with his associate, representatives of the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology, Railway Infrastructure, Environmental Protection Agency, National Parks and the Forestry Administration.
In the press release, they state that the meeting assessed that there is very good cooperation between the present subjects from the aspect of protection and rescue, but that new modalities should be found for its improvement, "because this is imposed by very demanding professional standards and the time in which this system is being developed."
"Special attention was paid to the preparation of the response for the upcoming fire season, where all subjects stated that they have undertaken and are undertaking the necessary preventive measures and actions necessary for a quick and efficient response in the event of a fire. On this occasion, the human and material resources that may be on available in the event of a fire, while there is an evident lack of both human and material resources that can be used for this purpose," the announcement states.
They add that the organization of training for members of the protection and rescue services has been agreed in order to establish a connection with the pilots of the aircraft and guide them when extinguishing fires from the air so that the extinguishing effects are greater.
"Also, it was agreed that, in addition to reconnaissance by helicopters, available drones will be used for these purposes, which will cover a larger territory, and reduce the costs of engaging resources. The meeting appealed to citizens to give their input and adjust their activities, especially if bears in mind that expert analyzes have shown that municipalities such as Podgorica, Nikšić, Cetinje and coastal municipalities are already in the red zone when it comes to droughts, and thus the risk of fire outbreaks is already at a high level," the MUP statement concludes. a.
