Since May of this year, competent institutions in Montenegro have confiscated more cigarettes than any other country in Europe, said the Minister of the Interior, Filip Adžić.
The Revenue and Customs Administration, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Police Administration, implemented a new action aimed at dealing with cigarette smuggling.
In the Port of Bar, eight containers were confiscated, approximately four thousand packs of cigarettes, the value of which is around 3,5 million euros.
Adžić said that the competent institutions are continuing with activities aimed at combating cigarette smuggling.
"In the period from May 2022, competent institutions in Montenegro confiscated more cigarettes than any other European country," said Adžić.
According to him, this is an indicator that Montenegro has the capacity to fight against cigarette smuggling, as well as all forms of crime.
"Good interdepartmental cooperation and commitment to make Montenegro more economically stable is yielding results," said Adžić.
