Montenegro is firmly determined to persevere in reform activities, in order to finish the process of accession negotiations in a high-quality manner and become the next member of the European Union (EU), said the Vice President of the Assembly Branka Bošnja.

As it was announced from the Assembly, Bosniak hosted a lunch today for the captains of the regent of San Marino, Oskar Mina and Paolo Rondeli, who are on an official visit to Montenegro.

Bošnjak said that Montenegro and San Marino are friendly countries with room for further improvement of relations, since both are countries in Europe that, although small, as she said, have the strength for big things and processes.

According to Bosniak, tourism is an important branch for both countries, which is why, he believes, it is important to stick together, given that there is significant room for cooperation in that field.

She particularly emphasized health tourism since San Marino has a good health system.

Cooperation is possible and welcome in the field of science as well, said Bošnjak, repeating that these two small countries should show what great potential they have at their disposal.

"There are numerous areas in which there is mutual interest and opportunities for cooperation, of which the economy, tourism, culture, science and education are especially important," Bošnjak said.

It is stated that it was jointly assessed that the previous two years of the crisis caused by the covid 19 pandemic were particularly challenging for both Montenegro and San Marino.

"Montenegro and San Marino have many similarities, a long and rich history and significant cultural heritage and are recognized as countries that respect tradition, and at the same time are committed to the affirmation of European values, security and peace," Bošnjak said.

It was added that she emphasized the need to establish more intensive parliamentary cooperation through direct contacts of parliamentary committees for international relations.

"Bošnjak said that the process of European integration has no alternative, and that Montenegro is firmly determined to persevere in reform activities, in order to finish the process of accession negotiations in a high-quality manner and become the first next member of the EU," the statement said.

Bosniak introduced Mina and Rondeli to the work of the Women's Club, which, as she pointed out, she is particularly proud of.

"It was jointly assessed that bilateral relations between Montenegro and San Marino are good, that since the restoration of Montenegrin independence, they have been built in the spirit of mutual understanding and trust, but also that there is significant room for their further improvement," the announcement states.

It is added that the intensification of the political dialogue is particularly significant and in this context the first official visit of a statesman from Montenegro, President Milo Đukanović to San Marino from March 3 to 4, on which occasion he was awarded the highest order of San Marino - the Knight of the Grand Cross, is important.
