Abazović: Anyone who wants to overthrow the government wants to distance us from the EU

The meeting of the leaders of the parties that support and participate in the Government, where the fundamental contract with the Serbian Orthodox Church and the survival of the executive power were discussed in the cabinet of Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, ended around 11:XNUMX a.m., after three hours of discussions.

Abazović said earlier today, after attending the meeting, that anyone who wants to overthrow the government wants to distance Montenegro from the European Union.

When asked whether the survival of the executive power was called into question, he said that "it is possible that we have started in that scenario".

"This morning, DPS and SDP did not say that they would overthrow the government, everyone is of the opinion that the government should be preserved. There were also proposals to continue talking, I don't consider it ill-intentioned," he said.

"The Government can collapse, but then the European dreams of the Government collapse".

He said that it would be disastrous to go into the election process without the Judicial Council and the Constitutional Court.

"But it was also said by the people who have opposition to the basic contract that the matter should be communicated a little better... The meeting was very correct. I would not like to add fuel to the fire, but we should know the following - the government can collapse, but European dreams are also falling with it, there is no Judicial Council, Constitutional Court, VDT... Montenegro is losing the chance that appeared after the crisis in Ukraine, elections will be held, time will be lost, the question is whether it will be of the majority... Anyone who wants to overthrow the Government wants to distance it from the EU and it is important that citizens identify political subjects and individuals who have an interest in this, and I think there are some in Montenegro and the EU - said Abazović.

The leaders of the parties in power met this morning in the prime minister's office, and the topic was the signing of the Basic Agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church and the further survival of the Government. The meeting was attended by the leaders of the parties that make up the parliamentary majority, as well as the president of HGI Adrijan Vuksanović.

"We shared thoughts, dialogue helps, we had a meeting, it is still going on. Colleagues will continue," said Abazović, saying that he remains of the opinion that the public should not be preoccupied with this topic.

He said that the Committee for the Political System will meet today, while reminding that there will be a Government session tomorrow. "I think it is unfortunate that Montenegro deals with the church in this way during the tourist season and in response to rising prices," said the Prime Minister.

"Does someone want to destabilize Montenegro and who does it benefit, let the citizens judge, it is not in the interests of the citizens. The Prime Minister and the Government will not encourage this destabilization...I just think that we should solve all issues in parallel. For someone the most important basic contract, for me, are the Judicial Council, the VDT... The destabilization of the Government means the end of this window that has opened. I don't know whether we will get a new chance in six months or a year. But I can't believe that there are people who don't want to to capitalize on what we have," he added.

Speaking about the points of the Basic Agreement and the public-legal powers that guarantee the draft contract with the SPC, he said that the public legal power is to be able to issue a baptismal certificate and that he explained this at the meeting.

"I cannot fathom the degree of irrationality. He says that uniformed police cannot enter. Uniformed police do not enter your house, hotel, Parliament without a court order. If they have a warrant and if the safety and health of citizens is threatened, they can enter (the church) and that's what it says," claims Abazović.

When asked who he meant when he said that he was "afraid of Europol", he replied that he could not say that.

"Vijesti" was told last night that the state president and DPS leader Milo Đukanović invited Prime Minister Abazović (URA) and SDP leader Raško Konjević, as well as representatives of minority parties, to a meeting today.

Abazović announced yesterday that the contract will be voted on on Friday and that it does not occur to him that he is being "blackmailed by certain extremists" from the Government.

"Vijesti" announced this morning that the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) are considering withholding support from the Government, if Abazović maintains the position that the executive power will decide tomorrow on the adoption of the fundamental contract with the SPC.
