It is not yet known what will happen to the proposal of the Prosecutorial Council (TS) of the old convocation that the prosecutor Drazen Burić to be the supreme state prosecutor, because for almost a year the Assembly did not express itself, nor did the new Supreme Court withdraw such a proposal.

At the beginning of the session of that body, where the hearing of the candidates for the Judicial Council continued, he reminded his colleagues of this obligation, suspecting that perhaps, as he stated, it is being deliberately forgotten.

The prosecutor in the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, Dražen Burić, was acting VDT at the time when he was proposed for the position of supreme prosecutor, which was on July 29 last year. In the meantime, the composition of the TS was changed, and he was left without a mandate because the new law on the prosecution came into force.

The Committee for the Political System, which gives an opinion on the TS candidate, did not make a statement about him, nor was the issue raised at the plenum.

The new TS elected a prosecutor as the acting VDT Maja Jovanovic which, as Bulatović reminded, the first six-month mandate expires on August 6. The Law on the State Prosecutor's Office leaves the possibility for her to remain in that position for another six months, which the deputy reminded, asking his colleagues to finish their part of the job, that is, to make a statement about Burić.

He reminded that political consultations were scheduled for Friday, which were invited by the President of the Assembly Danijela Đurović, regarding the election of members of the Judicial Council, judges of the Constitutional Court and the VDT.

"It's as if someone deliberately forgets that the VDT should be elected here, they're only talking about the SS here, in order to get some kick in the EU. The SS is important because part of it is in an illegitimate capacity, but the VDT is also important. With the President of the Assembly, former and current, is a letter from the old TS asking the Assembly to declare the candidacy of Dražen Burić. We don't have to do that if Burić withdraws, or TS does it, but the procedure is that the Assembly must declare itself on all the registered candidates", he said at the Committee session.

Chairman of the Board Momo Koprivica (Democrats) explained that on July 4 of this year, in accordance with the earlier agreement of that body, he asked for the opinion of all members regarding this issue, but that no one answered him.

He said that the dilemma is whether to send a letter to the TS with the question whether it remains with the proposal for Burić or withdraws it, or whether the Board should organize a consultative hearing.

He said that the session of the Board, where the candidates for the SS are heard, lasts until July 12, but that in the meantime, a special one may be scheduled regarding the current advertisement for the VDT.

Epistle Draginja Vuksanović Stanković (SDP) and vice-president of the Assembly Branka Bosniak (PzP) believe that TS should be asked for an opinion regarding the proposal for Burić to be VDT.

"That is the proposal of the previous TS, we should send a letter to the current one and ask if they remain with the previous proposal, if not, to enter the procedure of announcing a new advertisement as soon as possible...
