The Municipal Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Kotor announced today that "the memorial service for convicted war criminal Dragoljub Draža Mihailović, held on the territory of the municipality of Kotor, organized by the Church of Serbia, is a cheeky slap to the anti-fascist heritage, carefully nurtured in Montenegrin society and the institutions of Montenegro".

This morning, the Metropolitanate of Montenegrin and Littoral Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) marked the death anniversary of convicted war criminal Dragoljub Draža Mihailović, commander of the Chetnik forces during World War II.

"The vampiric spirit of fascism, which has not calmed down since August 30, 2020, introducing historical revisionism as a work program of the established governments, with the intensive support of the pro-Russian media, as well as the so-called independent ones, which, with the technique of soft promotion of anti-state actions, become part of the Russian propaganda ecosystem , persistently provokes the citizens of Montenegro. Through the institution of the state of Serbia, where the liturgy and memorial service is organized for the man who, through cooperation with the fascists and the implementation of the Great Serbian ideology, embodied in the ethnic cleansing and brutal killing of his compatriots, wants to turn Montenegro into Serbia , in which the Partisan and Chetnik movements were equalized and every war criminal from the Second World War was rehabilitated," the statement of DPS Kotor points out.

They added that "Kotor and Montenegro will not remain silent on such shameful occurrences".

"We must not and will not be silent because of the glorious July 13, 1941 and the great victims of fascist terror. All our national heroes and heroines who put their lives on the altar of freedom and the achievements of the NOB oblige us to preserve what makes Montenegro a state of dignity , and the Montenegrin society to civil and European ones," states the announcement of DPS Kotor.

They said that they distance themselves from this barbaric act, which they add is intended to humiliate the anti-fascist idea, on which the stolen statehood of Montenegro was restored.
