The government considered the proposal to invalidate the conclusion on joining the NATO Innovation Fund, and Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanović said that the benefits of participation must be seriously considered in the coming period.

"It is about an obligation that was constituted by the previous administration, which did not have a foothold in the budget for the current year, about joining the NATO Innovation Fund and of 3,2 million euros, which should be provided this year. Of course, these funds have not been provided and that proposal was given quite laconically," said Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanović.

By canceling that conclusion, as the minister explained, we would enter into discussions about joining the Fund from January 1, 2023.

By the end of the year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Technological Development, it is expected to take a detailed look at what Montenegro's participation in the Fund brings.

Because the obligations of Montenegro are not small, the minister emphasized.

In February, the Government adopted information on Montenegro's accession to the Fund.

Out of the current 30 NATO member countries, 22 joined the Fund.

The host of the signing ceremony on June 30 was NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who said that this is a unique fund whose time frame is set for 15 years.
