The government of Zdravko Krivokapić during the entire mandate, from December 4, 2020 to April 27, 2022, granted a record 319 "honorary" citizenships, and the government of Dritan Abazović is on the way to breaking that record in a few months.
This was announced by the Center for Civic Education (CGO), explaining that from April 28 to July 1, Abazović submitted a total of 325 proposals for admission to Montenegrin citizenship to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in accordance with the Economic Citizenship Program.
CGO adds that these proposals refer to 104 applicants and 221 members of their families.
"As stated in the MUP document, and as the CGO announced and welcomed earlier, no economic citizenship has been granted in the last few months. However, the number of proposals points to a different conclusion, as it will also result in a new influx of "honorary" citizens." , CGO states.
The decision of the Government of Montenegro, as they say from the CGE, not to cancel this program, but facilitate it and actively implement it through new proposals for admission - is contrary to the European agenda.
"And it's a direct ignoring of numerous warnings from EU officials, including the latest ones from Josep Borelj and Oliver Varhelji," concludes CGE.
