Eight candidates for the post of judge of the Constitutional Court

Eight candidates responded to the advertisement for one position in the Constitutional Court, from May this year.

They are Alija Beganović, Tatjana Bulatović, Elvis Duraković, Dragana Đuranović, Jovan Kojičić, Zdenka Perović, Branislav Radulović and Momirka Tešić, announced the president of the Constitutional Committee, Simonida Kordić.

The Board has formed a Commission that will determine whether the applications of the candidates are in accordance with the conditions prescribed by the competition. There are three deputies in it.

At the session that just ended, Kordić said that Lidija Kovačević withdrew her application for the competition.

The Constitutional Court has seven judges, who are elected by the Assembly for 12 years, by a two-thirds majority of the deputies.

In this competition, a judge is chosen to replace Miodrag Iličković, who is eligible for retirement in September of this year, so the court is in danger of being left with three judges and without a quorum to decide.

The court has seven judges and four are needed to make decisions.

The head of the Constitutional Court is Budimir Šćepanović, and the judges are Milorad Gogić and Desanka Lopičić.

Judge Dragoljub Drašković retired at the beginning of the year, and Hamdija Šarkinović and Mevlida Muratović retired last year.
